About Us

Indie Retro Games is a community-driven platform for creators still pushing the limits of classic hardware. We're not about nostalgia — we're about brand new creations for the NES, Commodore 64, Amiga, Game Boy, and 20+ other retro platforms.

We're old-timers who grew up with these machines, building the platform we always wished existed. It's a work in progress — shaped together with the community.

Discover homebrew games

One Place to Discover

Our goal: be the place to find every homebrew creation for classic platforms. No more hunting across forums, obscure websites, and social media. One searchable catalog, constantly growing.

Whether released yesterday or a decade ago, free or commercial, creator active or moved on — we want it here. A living archive of everything the homebrew community has created.

More Than Just Games

Chiptune music and more

Games are our core — homebrew titles that push aging hardware to new limits. From platformers to RPGs, puzzle games to demakes, we catalog everything with detailed compatibility info so you know exactly what runs on real hardware, FPGA, or emulator.

But the retro scene is more than games. We also support chiptune albums, pixel art, dev tools, and anything creators build for classic platforms. Composed a SID soundtrack? Built a level editor? There's a place for it here.

We support 20+ platforms — NES, SNES, Game Boy, Commodore 64, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, Atari 2600, MSX, Neo Geo, and more. If there's a classic system with an active homebrew scene, we want to support it.

Built for Everyone

For Fans

Browse by platform, genre, or explore what's new. Add products to your wishlist, mark favorites, track what you own. Follow creators for notifications.

Much of the catalog is free, others let you pay what you want. Either way, you're directly supporting the people who make them.

Contribute to the community — write reviews, share videos, add screenshots, or help with compatibility info. Help build the archive together.

For Creators

Upload your work, set your own pricing — free, pay-what-you-want, or fixed — and connect with fans who appreciate what you make.

For games, add compatibility info for emulators, FPGA, and real hardware. Include screenshots and everything fans need. Your product page is your storefront.

We're digital-only for now — no physical cart sales on the platform. But you can link to your own store or publisher for fans who want the real thing.

Found your game already listed? Claim it to take full control of your product page. Don't want your work featured? No problem — just get in touch and we'll remove it.

Something missing?

We're always looking to improve. If there's a feature you'd like to see, let us know.

Privacy and security

Your Privacy Matters

No creepy analytics, no selling data, no third-party scripts watching you. Future analytics will be privacy-friendly and anonymous — just numbers to improve the site.

We store only what's necessary. Stripe handles payments securely. Cloudflare Turnstile stops bots without invasive CAPTCHAs.

Cookies? Just for login and preferences. That's it. No ad tracking, no fingerprinting. A website that respects you.

Shaped by you

Our public roadmap shows what's coming, and every month you vote on priorities. Most votes wins. The people who use this platform have a real say in how it grows.

We're also building ways for the community to help creators directly — contributing screenshots, compatibility info, filling gaps. Creators stay in control, but don't have to do it alone.

This is how we build a living archive together.

We're retro enthusiasts ourselves — we grew up with these machines and never stopped loving them. We built this platform because we wanted it to exist. Whether you're a developer pushing 8-bit limits, an artist crafting sprites, a musician composing chiptunes, or someone who loves new games on old consoles — this is our community, and we're building it together.
